Bravo, President Sarkozy

No, not a temper-tantrum, but a firm stand for good taste and proper comportment....

The interviewer needed a lesson in decorum!

Airbus 380A Singapore Airlines Maiden Flight

After a two-year delay, Airbus 380A made its first flight on October 15th. The journey between Singapore and Sydney, Australia, took seven hours. There were over four-hundred-fifty passengers, most of whom paid large amounts of money for the experience, some of which went to charity. Singapore Airlines will be the only one flying the Airbus 380A for the next ten months....

Boeing rolled-out its 787 Dreamliner in July, 2007. As with most innovative projects, estimated time needed for final completion was underestimated. The 787 Dreamliner will have a smaller environmental footprint than the A380, and will be able to land in more airports because of its reasonable size. Its first commercial voyage depends upon its delivery to airlines. Until the Boeing Dreamliner is ready for its maiden flight, projected for March 2008, Airbus of France has surpassed Boeing of the United States in super-jumbo jet aeronautics. They are currently in the lead for having the largest jumbo-jet in the air. The largest plane in the air until October 15th was Boeing's 747. The Airbus 380A is capable of carrying 853 people--resembling a small town in the sky rather than a bus.

Everyone's Talking about It...

...though there's not much to say. It has no impact on world events or those in France. There are much more important issues. It was obvious that the lady didn't want to commit herself to future engagements (apparently she detests a charade) when she opted out of the luncheon with President and Mrs. Bush. No worries for Président Sarkozy; in his new position, he is currently the most powerful man in the world. Horror Flick: Catacombs

Low-budget but captivating, till you get to the end and have to run it fast-backwards in your mind, realising that the premise as it now stands is as improbable as Hell. I'm not going to spoil the film for you, as we are in Hallowe'en season and it can be watched for free on or cable tv, but I will tell you that it is set in the Catacombs of Paris.
The leading actress was good. The "French" antagonist had such poor French that we pegged him as Eastern European. Watching the credits, we learned that this was a Romanian production
with negligible French participation. I recommend this film because it is both fascinating and scary.

A Vicious Breed

Reprise Post
The Nature-Loving Environmentalist: a breed recognized by the smoke wafting out of their nostrils, the litter that they drop, the gas that they guzzle in their SUVs, the dirt left anywhere they please thanks to their many, ever-present dogs (In Democrat-dominated cities such as Seattle, San Francisco and Santa Fe, homeless hippies have as many as three each on the city sidewalks, making certain areas septic and impassable, since they do not clean up after Fido), the unnatural tattoos covering their wretched, skinny bodies; the puffy, unclean holes they have poked into them as "piercings"; the noise pollution they inflict on you with their thundering rap music, and the psychotropic drugs that they ingest to distort the brains that God gave them, which delude them into believing that they are better than we are--environmentally conscious, sanctimonious scum. Look for earmark "Kill Bush" bumper-sticker or T-shirt.If you see one of these vicious beasts, run for your life!

Boeing Replaces 787 Project Leader

The July, 2007 roll-out was an exuberant celebration for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Now, its first flight having been delayed till at the soonest March 2008, orders are delayed as well. On Tuesday, October 16th, the program chief of Dreamliner development Mike Bair (51 years old) was let-go; Pat Shanahan (aged 45) was appointed. Mike Bair will become Vice President for Business Strategy and Marketing at Boeing's commercial-airplanes division, concentrating on the development of future products. Mr. Shanahan was, before becoming chief of the 787 project, working in Washington, D.C. on missile defense systems. He is from the state of Washington, and a graduate of the engineering department at the UW.
This change in leadership at a critical juncture is business-as-usual in the aerospace field.
